Leading High Performing Project Teams Simulation |
Receive 16 Professional Developement Units ( PDU ®) with the Project Management Institute PMI ® for attending this course.
Leading High Performing Teams is a fast-paced, highly-engaging, workplace simulation that assists attendees in experiencing two breakthrough insights, both of them exploding previously-held myths.
Myth #1. Leaders are born, not made.
Participants formally compare what they do at work with the 5 Practices of Exemplary Leaders. These practices have been researched with more than 45,000 leaders around the world by James Kouzes and Barry Posner, and are reported in their book, The Leadership Challenge. Invariably, attendees have a great Aha! They each find that they have, and express to some degree, every one of the five practices. They are convinced they can be leaders and not just managers! They learn how to improve their leadership skills simply by knowing what skills are required and practicing these skills with intention.
Myth #2. A team is composed of a leader and followers.
Attendees learn that strong project teams are not made up of one leader and some number of followers. Superior teams are composed entirely of leaders! A colleague calls them leaderful teams. This second Aha! hits participants as they discover the Eight Dimensions of High Performance Teams, researched worldwide by Carl Larson and Frank LaFasto and reported in their book, Teamwork.
With these two myths deflated, the way is cleared for project managers to freely practice their developing skills in leading and working in teams, two of the most essential skills for success in managing projects.
This two-day course helps project managers convincingly demonstrate to themselves that they are competent leaders. At the same time they also successfully serve as members of a high performance team.
There is no quicker or more effective way for a project manager to learn these two practical and critical skills than to be immersed in this simulation workshop. This is the ticket to adding confident leadership to your skills as a project manager. Can you meet or beat the three objectives of project management - cost, schedule, and specifications - consistently?
